Impressive Visit to Nebraska Humane Society Essay - 801 Words

As a class we had the opportunity to visit the Nebraska Humane Society, personally, this was the first time I was able to visit NHS. I can honestly say that I was extremely impressed, and was not expecting the level of service and dedication that was provided at the shelter. The NHS is a private non-profit organization and receives no federal funding. The current building was completed in 2000. The 65,000sq ft building is an exceptional facility, and is the largest shelter facility in Nebraska. Currently, NHS can house a minimum of 500 animals, including dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, bunnies, and non-venomous reptiles. Online the NHS showcases various horses and donkeys that currently live in volunteer foster homes, awaiting†¦show more content†¦The facility has not had to euthanize a healthy dog due to lack of space for several years. Programs have been developed such as the â€Å"special needs fund,† which allows for expensive medical treatment, rehabili tation, and adoption for many dogs who may not of had that opportunity in previous years. However, cats provide additional challenges due to overpopulation issues. Last year approximately 800 treatable-rehabilitable/manageable cats had to be euthanized. However, programs such as the trap/neuter/release program, foster care in private homes, PetSmart and veterinary clinic housing/adoptions, and free cat adoption incentives greatly reduced the overwhelming difficulties with housing/adopting cats (Nebraska Humane Society, 2014). When stray animals are found, they are kept in specialized kennels for 3-5 days. After the mandated time, if no one has claimed the animal then they are placed in the adoption program. There is no time limit for an animal to be adopted, and NHS even provides obedience training to pets in the adoption program. Our Identity in Christ With given a choice of what to write this paper, I could not get past the subtle nature of who we are as God’s creations. This fundamental truth of our identity is simplified with the truth of our identity in Jesus. We are created in God’s image with a purpose here on earth to display all of God’s greatness, His beauty, and to reveal all of His character aspects. Best of all, we are completely dependent on God. God shows us that we are to depend on Jesus to show us our true identity, thus leading us towards a life of fulfillment and significance. God had a better plan for us all along, he wanted for us to live out our purpose on this world, while living in community with everyone while glorifying God with the way we live out our purpose. The enemy is always attempting to undermine God’s work here in the world, however, God is still in ultimate control. This does not stop satan and his angels from blinding the minds of unbelievers of the truth of the gospel. If someone wants to find out the reason for their life, they have to go to the one who wrote the book on our life; Jesus. I was brought up in a denomination called the Church of Christ. At this denomination, there were godly people attending, just not as many as one would expect. The money wasnt enough for Walts needs which soon led him to dangerous men like Tuco and Gustavo Fring who both end up being killed by the duo. With all the money he had in the tens of millions, Skyler and Walt begun to launder money with the help of Saul Goodman in their car wash business, Skyler is Walts wife who had disapproved of his actions at first but soon warmed up to his actions due to it benefitting her and their two children for years to come. Each character in the show had their good intentions: Hank wanted to stop the meth flow in Alberquerque, Walt wanted to have a future for his family when he leaves, Jesse needed money to take care of his girlfriend and child at the time, and Mike wanted to leave money for his daughter when he escapes to start a new life.
